We provide a fantastic variety of community-based daytime educational, social, vocational, and leisure activities for adults with learning disabilities and mental ill health across Derbyshire including:

  • arts and crafts
  • catering
  • farming
  • gardening
  • music workshops
  • trips to the theatre, bowling alley, and theme parks
  • walking, climbing, swimming, and sports


We always ask services users what they would like to do, as we are keen to encourage their skills, knowledge, and talents.

Why participate?

People use our daytime services for reasons including:

  • respite for carers
  • to improve independent living skills
  • to participate in social and fun activities
  • to enhance knowledge through educational activities
  • to improve life skills

Where do they take place?

Day activities take place at the following locations:

Golding Grange at Matlock in the Derbyshire Dales provides independent living. The centre has some great facilities including a large arts and crafts studio, a pottery studio, and views over the Derbyshire countryside.

Medway Community Centre in Bakewell, where day services and community support are available every weekday. Activities include bowling trips, films, drama sessions, zumba, baking, and music workshops.

The Enable Resource Centre in Tibshelf, Derbyshire provides specialist day services, including therapeutic activities for adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities, and community support for people with complex needs.

When do activities take place?

Activities are available on a daily basis, and they can include evenings and weekends if requested. We also offer free taster sessions, so people can decide whether an activity suits them.

Paying for day activities if you claim benefits
